HOW DID YOU START WRITING?
I’ve always read books. My mother suggested I write my own instead of spending all my money on books.
DID YOU REALLY SPEND ALL OF YOUR MONEY ON BOOKS?
Yes, I would budget how many books I could buy with my allowance and I would request books as Christmas gifts.
HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU STARTED WRITING NYVILE HIGH?
I started Book 1 in 2005 when I was 16 and I finished it in 2006 when I was 17. I also finished books 2, 3 and 4 when I was 17…I was in a ‘writing zone.’
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA TO START WRITING NYVILLE HIGH?
I started with the title and worked from there. The Turners came next and everything else evolved as they explore their new environment. Nyville is just as much a new environment for me as it is for them.
DID YOU KNOW FROM THE BEGINNING IT WOULD BE A SERIES?
No, I did not. When I first started I thought it would be single book. As the characters developed, I thought of all the possibilities and decided to make it a series.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR YOU TO WRITE A BOOK?
It depends on how inspired I am so it varies.
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER? Well, it’s really hard because I try not to choose favorites. It reminds me of how a mother might feel about choosing a favorite child.
WHICH CHARACTER DO YOU RELATE TO THE MOST? I would say Sadie because she is so studious and I’m a bit of a nerd myself when it comes to my studies.
YOUR CHARACTERS HAVE MANY LAYERS WHICH CAN LEAD TO DRAMA. CAN YOU RELATE TO THEIR DRAMA? No, my life is very calm and drama free. Like my mother says, "We don’t do crazy"......Sorry , Mom!
AS YOUR SERIES CONTINUES AND YOUR CHARACTERS DEVELOP, READERS WILL SEE THAT THEY ARE DEALING WITH DEEP ISSUES. HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT RESEARCHING ALL OF THE ISSUES?
The internet has been my friend in that regard. I use several resources including search engines and medical resource web sites. And as far as the internet predator story line, my mother is always telling me that predators are out there out looking for young people to victimize. She watches forensic shows and talk shows then she comes and lectures me and my siblings on what to look out for-Sorry, Mom!
DO YOU EVER EXPERIENCE WRITER'S BLOCK?
I experience writer's block fairly often. But I can usually write at least a paragraph or I’ll go back and do editing which often inspires me and helps the writers block disappear.
HOW LONG DO YOU INTEND TO WRITE THE NYVILLE HIGH SERIES?
I intend to write about the characters through High School and I may continue them through College.
DO YOU PREFER TO WRITE FREE HAND OR A COMPUTER?
I prefer my laptop. It's easier to fix my errors and I don’t have to keep a pencil sharpener handy.
DO YOU HAVE YOUR OWN LAPTOP?
Yes, I’m very lucky to have my own because my brothers and my sister love their laptops, too. I would never have an opportunity to write as much if we all had to share one.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE KINDS OF BOOKS TO READ?
I like to read Romance novels, particularly Historical Romances and some Sci-Fi.
WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS?
My favorite authors are Dean Koontz, Julie Garwood, JK Rowling and Jane Austin.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?
Pride and Prejudice.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE TV SHOW?
Currently, I’m borderline obsessive over Grey’s Anatomy.
WHO IS THE GREATEST INFLUENCE IN YOUR LIFE?
My mother.
YOUR BOOKS HAVE A MIX OF ROMANCE, TEEN ANGST, PLUS THE DRAMA AND SERIAL ASPECTS OF A SOAP OPERA. HOW WOULD YOU TAG YOUR BOOK?
I suppose teen fiction would be all encompassing.

Absolutely! I want to write well to entertain my readers. Hopefully, they become fans and friends.
DO YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND?
No, not currently and not from lack of trying J I’m impatiently waiting for the right guy to come along.
